A Board Certified Dermatology Nurse Practitioner who focuses on treating skin from an outside-in, inside-out approach using a blend of conventional, functional and holistic approaches.
Haleigh has been in the medical field for over a decade. Starting her career as a registered nurse treating pediatric and acute adult patients, she simultaneously completed a nurse practitioner program at Pace University in NY. After graduating she was accepted into a fellowship dermatology program where she trained alongside top dermatology providers in NYC. Haleigh began treating patients in NYC before transitioning to Westchester, NY and CT. Today she continues to treat patients at a busy dermatology practice.
Dermatology is Haleigh's passion. However, while treating patients she began to see major cracks with conventional medicine. Expecting to treat a patient in a short amount of time meant not truly being able to treat the ENTIRE person. By launching a skin/wellness coaching company, Haleigh is able to take all of her expertise from conventional dermatology practices and combine it with functional and holistic approaches - finally treating the entire person and not just from the outside - with the true amount of time a person deserves.
Having a career helping people feel confident in their skin has been rewarding. The field is fascinating, diagnosing skin conditions is truly an art - I have worked with some of the best diagnosticians. I have treated many conditions including acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, hair loss, and autoimmune conditions. I have diagnosed skin cancers which has enforced my belief in the importance of sunscreen and sun safety. I also love the fact that the field is so interactive and filled with procedures, including cosmetics and lasers!
However, my love for the field slowly gave way to major stress - to see people quickly, in what health insurance deemed an appropriate amount of time; being told by health insurance what medications are covered; not being able to truly offer health counseling regarding lifestyle and mental health; not being able to offer testing to determine someone's gut health and hormone health and feeling like oral antibiotics and hormones were the only options if topical treatments failed; and stress that I can't help the entire person heal, more than just their skin.
I felt so much stress at work and that combined with personal stress. I gave birth to my second daughter and I felt like I was being torn from her returning to work. I know how quick they grow up. I began to feel such a pull to be closer to my girls, spend more time with them, but I also wanted to still work my passion of dermatology. It just all seemed impossible.
I stumbled on an instagram account of a Nurse Practitioner using an online platform to help people from a functional model. This was it! A way to combine all of my passions - dermatology from more than a conventional perspective and have more time with my family. I spent countless hours learning about the business model while continuing to learn how to incorporate all the aspects of conventional, holistic, and functional medicine to help people look and feel better. Even more? I could do all of this from home - game changer.
All of the approaches that I wanted to help others with, I had already begun using with my family. I overhauled the products we used in our house and on our bodies, the food we put in our bodies, and mental wellbeing. As hard as I try to incorporate all of these things in office, it is realistically not possible.
I am so excited to be incorporating the wealth of knowledge I have gained as a dermatology Nurse Practitioner with the holistic and functional medicine practice I believe conventional medicine lacks. I offer it all to you, in a safe space not controlled by insurance. I am ready to treat you as a whole person! Together we will work towards a healthier life and skin, at a pace that fits you. It seems so overwhelming before you start, and it may continue to take a little extra leg work - but the reward is worth it. True wealth is health - let's get it.
My greatest gifts are my two daughters.
I would love to live in the country surrounded by nature and a small farm of animals! Outdoors = healing
I am trying! The more I learn about food, the more I want to make it at home - but I am novice at best!
If you know me, you know I love trying all different sunscreens. I am actually excited to try new, safe ones!
Skincare in general is so fun - I love learning and experiencing different products, even when they flop.
Childhood joke - would I have children or rescue a monkey! Animals truly heal my soul.
